PetroLiance Introduces Medallion Plus® DE Oil Absorbent

(CARY, NC) -- PetroLiance LLC, one of the nation's largest distributors of fuels, lubricants and industrial fluids, has expanded its Medallion Plus® product line to include a new selection of industrial absorbents for use in a wide variety of industrial, automotive and maintenance applications.

The company's Medallion Plus® DE Oil Absorbent was developed to provide better performance and ease of handling when compared to other absorbent and floor dry materials, according to Scott Lane, Chief Marketing Officer.

"Medallion Plus® DE Oil Absorbent is formulated from diatomaceous earth, a very lightweight naturally occurring mineral that is significantly more porous and absorbent than other commonly used floor dry and liquid absorbent products," he said. He also noted that Medallion Plus® DE Oil Absorbent is effective in absorbing oil spills and leaks, as well as spills and leaks of other fluids.

"Our goal was to provide PetroLiance® customers with single-source convenience for a complete selection of floor dry and absorbent products, which they can depend on to give them superior performance while also being easy and safe to use," Lane said.

In all types of applications, the Medallion Plus® DE Oil Absorbent material significantly outperformed other commonly used absorbents, such as bentonite clay or cellulose-based absorbents which are manufactured from waste paper products, said Stephen Tivy, Marketing Manager.

"We chose to formulate Medallion Plus® DE Oil Absorbent using diatomaceous earth because it is lighter in weight, so a 25-pound bag has nearly as much volume as a 50-pound bag of a bentonite clay-based product," he explained. "But because of its lower density and higher porosity it also holds more liquid than 40 pounds of clay-based products."

"Diatomaceous earth is also less dusty than the clay product, making it easier to store, handle and spread, and the lighter, 25-pound bags are more human-friendly," Tivy added. It also is less susceptible to being blown about by fans and breezes than cellulose-based absorbents - again making it easier and safer to use in industrial applications.

Depending on the liquid it absorbed, used Medallion Plus® DE Oil Absorbent can be disposed of like conventional refuse.

Medallion Plus® DE Oil Absorbent is sold in 25-pound bags. All Medallion Plus® DE Oil Absorbent products are shipped in water-resistant packaging to enable customers to store the material for long periods of time, even in humid conditions, with no significant loss of absorbency.

Medallion Plus® DE Oil Absorbent joins a line of high-performing absorbent pads, rolls, socks, booms, and tramp-oil absorbents available through local PetroLiance distribution centers.
