I searched but didn't find any aftermarket solutions.

$19.40 $ 19.

I'm pretty unhappy about this -- been waiting and saving my pennies for months to get a Wrangler Unlimited. I saw a few forums about this topic, but no answers there either. It really bothers me and I have a bad back so I have to keep the seat straight up for posture.

I haven't tried it yet, but I imagine it would be legally inadvisable in the event of an accident.

The angle of the front seat headrest causes my wife's head to tilt forward uncomfortably so her chin is resting on her chest. So no matter how you adjust the seat, the head restraint is still touching your head? If not, is there an aftermarket headrest or some sort of resolution? We had tested a Grand Cherokee earlier in the day and the headrest was fine. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding.

They should be raised up so that the back of your head hits the middle of the headrest when you get in a wreck.

HATE THEM! Any one else find these head rests / head restraints uncomfortable, and any solutions? They point forward and no matter what height adjustment I set it at the tip of it always digs into the back of my head. The angle of the front seat headrest causes my wife's head to tilt forward uncomfortably so her chin is resting on her chest. Also, the read headrests on the Wrangler looked alright -- can they be used on the front seats? We test drove one months ago and didn't seem to have this problem or perhaps we just didn't notice. Almost nobody sets them up correctly. I don't have a JL yet, but this pertains to all modern vehicles: they don't have head rests anymore; they have head restraints.

Is it possible to buy one and install it? You must log in or register to reply here.

You need a pretty good size vise though.

Adjusting the height doesn't seem to do a bloody thing. I find the front seats to be very comfortable, but the headrest angle is so extreme, my upper back doesn't even touch the seat. I dont know what that would do for the safety aspect, but thats what i did on the wifes jkur, New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast, All stuff Jeep related: tech articles, pics, and advice, Press J to jump to the feed. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...es-red-parts-red-upgrades-red-mods-more.6741/, Rear seat head rest desiogn much better than JK. Maybe I can find a little pad to attach to it to bring it closer to the back of my head for better safety. I temporarily turned mine backward so it points to the rear. Can't the front seat head rests be tilted? The adjustable attachment straps allow the mirror to securely attach to most vehicle head restraints. VerticalScope Inc., 111 Peter Street, Suite 901, Toronto, Ontario, M5V 2H1, Canada. Discussion Starter • #1 • Sep 4, 2018.

Strap the LARGE JEEP adjustable mirror to the rear seat headrest, and enjoy a wide-angle view of your little ones in their car seats. If all it takes to make it comfortable, it is an easy effective solution.

Minor complaint, but doesn't make sense in this day and age that you can't adjust it. Just take a look around a parking lot.

The happiest days in a Wrangler owner's life is when they buy and upgrade. Ford focus' have lots of complaints due to the headrest angles. I actually flipped them backwards and while much more comfortable, they don't provide any head support. 40. That's with my seat all the way down.

I've done it in other vehicles worked fine. Any suggestions for aftermarket? My seats hit the headrest which is not ideal.

195 Posts . I meant altering the angle via vise.

When flipping the seats down, they don't either fold flat or stay at a 90 degree angle, they slide up to a 45 degree angle, taking up the floor board space that could of been used for a cargo area. 4 door / JLU with leather (if that matters with these questions). That puts it just a couple inches behind my head -- too far to rest my head on but close enough to help in a rear-end collision. I've heard this is becoming more common on newer cars because of more safety regulations. Because of the extreme angle, it sits way behind the head when flipped around.

If I had one complaint about my Jeep, it's the headrest.

The front are ok, but I'd prefer they have a little angle adjustment front and rear. I just reversed mine, and the posts slide in fine, but the notches don't click in; I'll have to see if it stays where I have it. Others have switched headrests with other vehicle's headrests (if they fit).

I've asked the dealership, no luck - they said that it is a Jeep thing. Rear seat head rests. The head "restraints" are angled farther forward than those of most other vehicles.

Of course... temporarily has turned into permanently as I have been putting off fixing it. I fucking HATE those damn headrests.

At 6-3, I found the best position to be all the way up until it touches the sound bar right in front of the speaker.

On the verge of buying a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited...just one thing stopping me. I have seen people on the jeep forums where they have just bent the metal posts some to where it puts the headrest at a less aggressive angle. Two questions below. I dunno. Ugh! Already tried on my workbench vice - not large enough and table starts to tip when I really crank on it. Its pivoting base lets you set it to the exact angle to capture a good view of your baby. 2.

I agree Jeremy, I was thinking the same thing.

I know. I was going to do that a while ago, but don't remember which vehicles fit. Any suggestions for aftermarket?

Don't think I'm up for personally bending the posts -- don't have the equipment, and I'm not keen to run over them with the Jeep as one person did -- but getting replacement posts from other models as you suggest sounds good. In the owner's manual it warns against reversing them, which, of course, suggests it's mechanically possible.

The rear ones are problematic for the tall child booster seats.

Get it as soon as Tue, Aug 18. They were designed by lawyers, not someone trained in ergonomics. I find the front seats to be very comfortable, but the headrest angle is so extreme, my upper back doesn't even touch the seat.
