The story is gripping and the characters are amazing. Lured to the great Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 by the hope of becoming a samurai, he regains consciousness after the battle to find himself lying defeated. I accidentally bought it, when I was supposed to be buying Musashi's own book (The Book of Five Rings).

The second half of the book as it moves towards Musashi's epic dual against Kojiro does slow down somewhat and goes on slight tangents.

This epic warrior tale reads like a novel, but this is the true story of the greatest samurai in Japanese history.

Having all 5 books together on kindle format is great, just a shame they haven’t released Sensei 1 and 2 on kindle yet by David Charley as I like to read both sets of books one after the other as both about famous Japanese swordsmen slightly different styles but all good reads.

Such a well-written story, with so many different storylines developed and then woven together. He is apparently a master with the sword although I cannot recall him ever having had any formal or informal training. far too many modern terms and words. For the first time ever, the death rate from cancer is showing a steady decline ... but the ‘War on Cancer’ has hardly been won.

The Audiobook takes it to a whole new level, the narrator adds even more depth and feeling to this already superb story. Interweaving themes of unrequited love, misguided revenge, filial piety, and absolute dedication to the way of the samurai, it depicts vividly a world Westerners know only vaguely.
