I didn't feel that the two main characters were drawn strongly enough for me to care about, and for much of the book they don't really do much anyway. Instead he seems to replace it with a consensual encounter between the male protagnoist and a middle-aged prostitute, which I suppose is something to be grateful for. Love it.
